Apple Pie and Hyperphagia
October 11, 2016 Dan Kon ,

Fall is the time when our beautiful black bears consume 8,000 -14,000 calories/day. This increased consumption of food in preparation for winter is called hyperphagia. while you are busy making apple pies and all those other warm fall foods, pay particular attention to bear attractants. Be sure to store your trash inside or in a bear resistant container until the morning of pickup. Remember to clean your grills too. Bears are opportunists. Please don’t tempt them with the smell of yummy left-overs and holiday food. -Image courtesyBear Smart
